Class Descriptions

Acrobatic Arts Levels 1-6 - AcroDance is an art form specifically for dancers. Acro has softer, more lyrical looking lines, with the emphasis being on lengthening "through" the tricks and holding pretty balances with interesting variations. In Acro, we teach our students to dance into and out of Acro tricks, with minimal obvious "prep" before and after a trick. Despite being technically difficult to execute, acrobatic tricks are meant to blend in seamlessly with dance steps, providing an extra level of excitement and flair to dance choreography.  **there is no recital dance for these classes

Tumble Tots  is a program specifically and carefully designed for 2-4 year old students using progressions that not only keep your student safe but also focus on acro positions, locomotive skills, balance skills, classroom behavior skills, movement concepts, and social skills. Students should be bare foot or in socks and will perform in the yearly recital.

Dancing Tots is an introduction to movement and exploring space for 2-4 year olds. Through play and moving through classroom

stations your child will be introduced to basic dance steps, balance skills, behavior skills, social skills, and exploring through space.

Students should have tan jazz shoes for class and will perform in the yearly recital.

Mini Movers  is a 30 minute long class for dancers ages 4 and 5. They will learn to be aware of their movements with the music, as well as, picking up on basic rhythms. Props and imaginative play are also part of this class. Students will do a combination of ballet basics, creative movement, jazz, hip hop and tap. This class will do one dance in recital. Students should have tan jazz shoes for class.

Ballet is a great class for all levels. Develop the fundamentals of dance through control, poise, precision, fluency and grace using the technique and style of classical ballet. Students who would like to prepare for pointe do have greater class requirements, please contact the studio for information regarding prepointe and pointe.

Tap teaches students of all ages to become rhythmic percussionists with their feet. The dance style enhances student’s musical awareness and ability to interpret rhythms. This is a great dance class for all those children that love to make music whether vocally, with traditional instruments or by banging on mom's pots and pans.

Jazz  involves the instruction of jazz technique and musical theatre.  It is not necessary for recreational classes, but we do recommend that anyone who takes jazz also take a ballet class as jazz is very much rooted in ballet technique.

Hip Hop  dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop cultureIt

includes a wide range of styles primarily breaking, locking, and popping which were created in the 1970s and made popular by dance

crews in the United States.

KPDA Xtreme Company classes are by invitation or audition only. These classes are taught on a higher level for the more serious dancer. Previous dance experience is required for these classes.
